光井花 × 下川織物。意図せず生まれる柄の「ゆらぎ」を表現。
テキスタイルデザイナー 光井花さんのデザインモチーフを久留米絣で表現したMONPEです。久留米絣は糸を括り、染め分け、織り上げることで模様を表現しています。括った糸で織りあげていく中、糸が微妙にずれ、柄がゆらぐことも、久留米絣の特徴の一つです。どんなに正確に織っても、結果として生まれる柄の「ゆらぎ」。今回は、その予期しない模様のゆらぎをテーマに、柄のズレもデザインとして取り入れて表現されています。

MONPE is a design motif by textile designer Hana Mitsui expressed in Kurume Kasuri.
Kurume Kasuri creates patterns by tying threads together, dyeing them separately, and weaving them. One of the characteristics of Kurume Kasuri is that as it is woven with tied threads, the threads shift slightly and the pattern wavers. No matter how precisely you weave, the resulting pattern will have fluctuations. This time, the theme is the unexpected fluctuation of the pattern, and the misalignment of the pattern is also incorporated into the design.
